Study in Malta

Where is Malta located?

The island of malta is a small independent nation state in the centre of the Mediterranean in Europe and is the EU’s smallest member state.

Looking at the map of Europe, Malta lies just 93 km (58 miles) South of Sicily (Italy) in Southern Europe and roughly 300 km (186 miles) North from the North African coast.
Background:
Great Britain formally acquired possession of Malta in the early 19th century. The island supported the UK through both World Wars and remained in the Commonwealth when it became independent in 1964. On 13 December 1974 Malta became a republic. Over the last 15 years, the island has become a major freight transshipment point, a financial center, and a popular tourist destination.  (Various Sources)

Why Study in Malta

One of the world’s smallest and most densely populated countries, Malta is a group of islands in the Mediterranean Sea to the south of Italy. The three largest of these – Malta Island, Gozo and Comino – are inhabited, with a total resident population of roughly 420,000.

Far more people than this visit each year, attracted by the beautiful beaches and lagoons, diverse watersports, vibrant nightlife, archaeological sites and picturesque harbour towns. Malta boasts three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the historic capital city Valletta, the seven megalithic temples and the hypogeum (a prehistoric underground structure). Valletta is also preparing to take on the mantle of European Capital of Culture in 2018

Other Reasons :

  • English is an active official language : Malta is one of the world’s very few truly bilingual countries. It’s very rare to find a Maltese person who doesn’t speak English. By law, all English teachers must be qualified and certified to teach.Environment is similar to Nepal, 300 days of sunshine per year. You will not be freezing under piles of snow and ice. You will not wake up every day to a cloudy sky. You will get an awesome sunshine and tan.
  • Reasonable living costs is the next important aspect of Malta. You will pay a small fraction of what it would cost to study and travel in Great Britain, the Americas, or Oceania. Food, transportation, living expenses, and tuition are all very economical.
  • Despite its small size, Malta is surprisingly rich in culture and history. Many ancient and modern world powers desired this strategic island at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, and left their mark on its landscape. From the world’s oldest buildings, to the castle-city of Mdina, to the chessboard fortress of Valletta, Malta’s many World Heritage Sites will dazzle your eyes!
  • Friendly, Safe and Relaxed: Many travelling students have struggled with the “cold culture” found in other English speaking lands. Malta has the cure! A family-based, laid-back, warm-region culture with Mediterranean folks ready to help at the slightest request, creates a welcome change and relief! It’s also one of the safest places on earth.
  • International Class: If you study English in Malta, you will be surrounded by thousands of others who are doing the same thing. This not only creates a great learning experience and opportunity to make friends, but also provides avenues for you to find connections with people from your own country who can help you out.
  • Various specialization programs under diploma, degree, post graduate diploma are offered at around  institutions nationwide and, tuition is generally much lower than in other leading study abroad countries.
  • International students can expect to be assisted in their university studies by such resources and services as orientation sessions, support programs, academic advising, prayer rooms, safe walk programs, student clubs, and assistance with medical concerns or housing issues.
  • International students can often work while they study and take advantage of many cooperative education and internship opportunities.
  • The Sea: If you study English in Malta, you will be surrounded by thousands of others who are doing the same thing. This not only creates a great learning experience and opportunity to make friends, but also provides avenues for you to find connections with people from your own country who can help you out.
